The Troy Academy of Figure Skating (TAFS) was established in 1997.  The skating club is located in the Troy Sports Center at 1819 East Big Beaver Road in Troy, Michigan.  TAFS is a volunteer organization that is also a member of United States Figure Skating (USFS).  In September 2007, TAFS joined with the International Center for Excellence in Skating (ICES), a philanthropic organization dedicated to the development of talented young competitive figure skaters in the United States and abroad.  Through its affiliation with ICES, TAFS offers a comprehensive figure-skating training program with on-ice instruction, off-ice conditioning, classical Russian ballet, and ballroom dance training.

Our highly qualified staff is prepared to coach all levels of skaters from beginners in our Learn-to-Skate Program to national and international competitive figure skaters.  TAFS coaches are available to provide instruction in Freestyle, Moves-in-the-Field, Ice-Dance, and Pair-Skating.  In addition, TAFS offers classical Russian ballet, off-ice conditioning classes, and ballroom dance instruction for club members.

The club hosts two Ice Shows a year.  The first show is in December and the second show is in the springtime.  The Ice Shows showcase the talents of our Learn-to-Skate students, as well as our competitive figure skaters.  The show has everything from groups of children as young as three years old to the stunning soloists who compete throughout the year in local, national, and international competitions.
