THEATRICAL STUDIO ON ICE

The “Theatrical Studio on Ice” under the Troy Academy of Figure Skating and with the support of ICES will introduce participants to acting on an ice stage, stroking skills, and partnership communication.  Working on portraying different characters will definitely help the participants in their skating careers by bringing their presentation skills to a higher level.

 

The formation of a “Theatrical Studio on Ice” (introducing the art of acting on an ice stage) is a concept brand new to the Metro Detroit area. Unlike the new US Figure Skating recognized sport of “Theatre on Ice,” the main goal of the Theatrical Studio on Ice is to portray a story to the audience using acting abilities with ice as a stage.

National Showcase 2009

A Competition in Theatrical Skating

August 13-15, 2009

Broadmoor Skating Club (Colorado Springs, CO)

 

We are in the process of putting together a group of skaters interested in competing in the 2009 National Showcase Theatrical Skating Competition.  The competition offers singles and duet events for skaters who have passed a minimum of the USFS preliminary freeskate test.  Larger group events with 3 skaters or more are also available with no USFS freeskate test restrictions, although skaters are encouraged to have passed a minimum of the USFS Learn-to-Skate basic 8 Badge.  The cost of airline tickets is approximately $300 per person.  If you are interested or for more information, contact Judy: (734) 223-2991.
